Job Description
We're looking for a Software Engineer II with experience in development in high traffic, mission critical services. This role is with the Core Services Account team in Melbourne. You'll be part of a high-impact team responsible for developing and enhancing Zendesk’s Account Service — a core platform that enables customers to access all Zendesk products with a single account. Our work spans key areas such as managing the full account lifecycle, provisioning products, and handling usage allowances.

Our Team Works With, And Focuses On
- Writing clean, maintainable code that encapsulates complex business requirements.
- Integrating with many of Zendesk’s products and services.
- Adapting to new, and changing, business requirements.
- Being the core service that enables go to market activities and launching exciting and new Zendesk products.
- Collaborating with teams all around the world.
- Work in a close-knit, highly productive team.
- Actively engage in team discussions and code reviews.
- Participate in the full development cycle from discovery to deployment.
- Take ownership of features and collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver a unified Zendesk customer experience.
- Write reliable, reusable and scalable code.
- Continuously learn and improve your skills.
- Work with your manager to identify opportunities, and advance your career.
- At least 2 years of commercial software engineering experience.
- 1+ years of experience in fullstack development.
- Production experience in at least one of the following languages/framework:, Ruby on Rails, Scala
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal - we work across teams in multiple timezones and hence prioritise asynchronous collaboration.
- Meticulous, with a focus on the delivery of quality work with a mindfulness of timelines needed for the business.
- A culture of teaching, learning, growth and innovation.
- Our code is written primarily in Scala and Ruby on Rails.
- Our servers live in AWS.
- Our applications/services are deployed via Spinnaker to Kubernetes.
- Our data is stored in Aurora/MySQL, Amazon S3, and Snowflake data warehouse.
