This role will support Principal Architects to develop and maintain Enterprise Information and Data Management strategies and models, a critical information management component that will support data architecture, analytics & AI, and data-oriented business operations .
The Information Architect will achieve the above by working closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams across the organization to (1) Understand business requirements, interpret our Enterprise systems landscape and translate findings into recommendations that can be referenced to drive consistent information and data management outcomes (2) Communicate findings through architecture artefacts, including information and data models, supporting taxonomy of terms, data management strategies, and data mastering guidelines (3) Produce well-balanced recommendations that weigh cost against quality, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency, and (4) Guide recommendations through the architecture governance process and present in architecture review groups and forums as necessary.
Major Accountabilities
Commercial & Strategic Priorities
- Design and carry out discovery workshops with business and technology teams to establish an aligned understanding of business and technical requirements, current state information services and issues, and capability priorities.
- Work with relevant Technology teams ensuring effective authoring and data dissemination patterns are in place for structured data.
- Contribute and support improvements to enterprise information solutions such as master data management, meta-data management, analytics, content management and data integration. This includes ensuring recommendations support accessibility, retrievability, security, data quality, retention and ethical handling of specific subsets of data through the application of formal data and metadata structures and protection measures.
- Present architectural solutions in architecture review forums and boards, obtaining necessary approvals and incorporating relevant feedback. Guide solutions through the architecture governance process, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and best practices.
- Design and build the enterprise information and data models, encompassing information taxonomies, and conceptual and logical models that align with business requirements, information and data management strategies.
- Assess data mastering recommendations, mapping systems to the enterprise information and data models, maintaining updated and organised documentation of these mappings.
- Support the Principal Modeller to establish the practice, defining the information taxonomies, patterns, standards and principles that will guide the activities of project data modellers and external contractors.
- Conduct modelling activities and deliverables to meet the demands and expectations of BAU initiatives, projects and programs of work.
- Develop and enforce modelling standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across the enterprise data model.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data modelling and apply them to improve the modelling processes.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the enterprise data model, including entity definitions, schemas, and data flow diagrams.
- Manage metadata associated with models, ensuring it is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders

- Asks exploratory questions to seek out data and test underlying assumptions
- Effectively analyses complex verbal and numerical information
- Identifies patterns in information and data when no obvious connections exist
- Uses data to prevent the recurrence of complex problems
