Data Scientist - Non-Life Insurance - Brussels - Freelance to FTE / FTE position
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Data Scientist with a strong background in non-life insurance, machine learning, and Python programming.
You will be responsible for developing statistical and machine learning models, including Generalized Linear Models (GLMs), to assess and quantify risk, support pricing, underwriting, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain GLMs and other statistical models for pricing and risk assessment across various non-life insurance lines (e.g., motor, property, liability).
- Build and deploy machine learning models (e.g., random forests, gradient boosting, neural networks) to support underwriting, claims prediction, and customer behavior analysis.
- Work closely with actuaries, underwriters, and business stakeholders to translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions.
Must-Have Skills:
- Proven experience in a non-life insurance setting.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with GLMs.
- Experience working with large insurance datasets and knowledge of data quality issues.
