Network Security Engineer

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced L3 – Security Consultant to join our international cybersecurity team at a leading enterprise. This fully remote role is based in Poland, offering you the opportunity to work with global teams and cutting-edge security technologies from the comfort of your home.

As an L3 Security Consultant, you will be responsible for the implementation, operation, and support of advanced security infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments. You’ll be hands-on with FortiGate and Checkpoint firewalls, Zscaler SSE, and F5 WAF, and play a critical role in incident resolution, design input, and system performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, configure, and maintain FortiGate and Checkpoint firewall systems across global infrastructure.
• Operate and support cloud-based Security Service Edge (SSE) solutions, particularly Zscaler ZIA/ZPA.
• Manage and optimize F5 Web Application Firewall (WAF) configurations and onboard new applications securely.
• Provide L3-level support for incidents related to firewall rules, cloud proxy, and WAF access issues.
• Conduct firewall provisioning and rule creation based on customer or internal stakeholder requirements.
• Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex security-related network and application access problems.
• Perform firmware upgrades, device replacements, and configuration hardening for security appliances.
• Maintain and monitor the health of the IDS/IPS, proxy, firewall, and cloud security platforms.
• Participate in design discussions and provide recommendations to enhance security architecture.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers to integrate firewalls and security controls in Azure public cloud.
• Ensure compliance with ITIL/ITSM processes, and contribute to change, incident, and problem management.

Required Skills & Experience:

10+ years of hands-on experience in network and cybersecurity operations.

Proven expertise in:

• FortiGate firewall deployment and policy configuration.
• Checkpoint firewall administration.
• Zscaler SSE (ZIA & ZPA) setup and troubleshooting.
• F5 WAF configuration, onboarding, and rule management.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTPS, DNS), VPN technologies, and access control.
• Experience managing and securing environments in Azure public cloud.
• Practical experience with proxy technologies, URL filtering, traffic forwarding, and cloud proxy agents.
• Sound knowledge of WAF application onboarding and SSL/TLS inspection.
• Solid understanding of IDS/IPS technologies and network segmentation.
• Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes including incident, change, and problem management.
• Proficient in technical documentation, troubleshooting, and system performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fortinet NSE4/5/7
• Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE
• Zscaler Certified Professional
• Microsoft Azure Security Associate
• Experience in large-scale, regulated environments (insurance, banking, healthcare, etc.).
• Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell or Python is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal); German is a plus but not required.
