The Office of the CTO is responsible for the architecture of Cognite Data Fusion, and ensuring it has a robust and scalable platform for solving industrial data problems for our customers. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated software architect that can lead the design, development, and evolution of our frontend architecture. The architecture covers both our own applications, and also how we enable our customers to build and deploy their own solutions on top of our platform. As a principal architect you will be responsible for setting coding standards, designing unified testing methods and methodology, with a focus on frontend application implementation strategies. You will also work hands-on with teams to translate the standards into actual code and ensure alignment across teams so we ensure seamless integration between the applications.

You will also work closely with our design department, AI development teams and other architects to help shape the UX used by both industrial domain experts and developers. Part of the work will be to work with backend architects on API design to best enable ourselves and our customers to build solutions for solving real industrial problems that can be data intensive.

As a Senior Principal Frontend Architect at Cognite you will:

• Lead the technical design of how we develop our application frontends
• Define the common standards for how we develop and test our applications
• Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, libraries and tools and drive the adoption of these in our teams
• Lead by example by working with the teams to ensure the right level of standardization (and to help out where specialization is needed)
• Be the voice of the application developers when we design the end to end systems to ensure our customers and partners can efficiently integrate with our solutions
• Work with our security teams on instilling safe and robust development practices for our frontend technology stack
• Mentor senior developers
  
  

We believe most of these should match you and your experience:

• 4+ years of frontend development experience
• Experience architecting complex frontend systems at scale
• Good overview over the frontend ecosystem and standard ways of working
• Strong coding fundamentals within the common frontend stacks
• Strong software development background with experience in implementing good practises for testing and development standards across large codebases
• Familiarity with design systems and building component libraries
• Experience with designing data oriented user experiences
• Understanding of how to design high performance applications that are responsive and feels nimble to the user
• Hands-on experience with deploying varied applications across the major public clouds
• Beneficial if experience is fullstack, but not required
