Job Description
- Follow engineering standards and processes
- Understand what the current standards are for product lines and ensure that new projects follow the standard unless the contract calls for a deviation to the standard.
- Provide sales with support required to maintain client interest in our technology (e.g. technical presentations) and in support of tenders, etc.
- Act as primary technical interface with clients, as required
- Act as system engineer, as required
- Make necessary engineering calculations to support product selection/recommendation.
- Ease of maintenance to be considered in control system design
- Develop technical documentation, e.g. specifications, bill of material, etc.
- Develop schematics, diagrams, assembly drawings, etc. for use in the manufacturing process
- Develop deliverables for use by Rig Contractors and Operators, e.g. general arrangement drawings, datasheets, etc.
- Be capable of leading outsourced engineering work to 3rd parties
- Provide engineering support during fabrication
- Develop procedures for assembly and testing onshore
- It is the engineer’s responsibility to ensure that all of his deliverables have fully completed the workflow process and are released before the work begins
- Provide engineering support during assembly and testing, either at 3rd party or EDR
- Perform hands on assembly and testing for new designs that the engineer is responsible for and as requested by engineering manager
- Assist in the design and planning of rig integration of EDR equipment onto offshore installations
- Go offshore to perform rig site visits
- Develop procedures, e.g. packing, preservation, transportation, installation, maintenance, testing, deployment, operations, retrieval and demobilization offshore, etc.
- Perform documentation review and approval
- Go offshore in support of new designs, as required and as requested by engineering manager
- Travel offshore if you have not been offshore for a product line, if POB does not allow then postpone until next project
- Train personnel on control system scope for our technologies
- Interacting with other disciplines and department to ensure continuity of the projects
- Clear Synergi actions for the equipment on your projects and others as assigned
- Support internal projects, e.g. engineering improvement initiatives, product line improvements, etc.
- Perform administrative tasks, e.g. time entry, expense reports, training portal requirements, etc.
- Check and approve others work in a timely fashion
- Give other engineers sufficient time to coordinate checking and approving engineers work into their schedule – 1 week is good practice
- Other activities, as required by the engineering manager
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation, Automation or Cybernetics.
- Other technical education in combination with experience in control system engineering can also be evaluated
- High value put on offshore experience
- Knowledge of relevant offshore and subsea regulations and standards
- Knowledge of communication protocols commonly used
- Knowledge of Software architecture and preferably programming experience
- 2-D CAD
- Good English skills, both oral and written
- Well control understanding
- Drilling rig experience and overall understanding of the drilling process
