Strengthen our Engineering Team in full-time (40 hrs./week) as Software Engineer (m/f/d) within Germany or UK remotely or at one of our office locations.

This role focuses on developing and maintaining high-performance, event-driven distributed systems and managing the student contract lifecycle.

Your tasks

  • Building and shaping a new end-to-end service focused on student contract lifecycle management—from contract creation through lifecycle events like recognition of prior learning, leave semesters, etc., to data transfer into Workday.
  • Developing our high-performance event-driven distributed system using microservices and microfrontends.
  • Collaborating with fellow engineers, product managers, UX, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the system, utilizing various tools and metrics to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date documentation, best practices, and standards.

Your Profile

  • Solid experience in PHP development.
  • First experience with event-driven architecture and ideally some exposure to event streaming platforms like Kafka or message brokers like RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and experience with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Good understanding of web technologies and familiarity with topics like website performance, accessibility, semantics, and code quality.
  • Experience in component development using modern web frameworks such as Vue, Svelte, SolidJS, or React.
  • Enthusiasm for technical concepts and software architecture.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Independent, goal-oriented, and structured way of working.
  • Ownership of tasks and eagerness to grow and contribute to the bigger picture.
