Head of Data Engineering

Exadel is seeking a visionary and hands-on Head of Data Engineering to lead, build, and scale our global Data Engineering capability as a core pillar of our Data, Analytics, and AI consulting strategy. This role is responsible for defining the technical vision, solution architecture, delivery frameworks, and reusable engineering assets that underpin high-value data transformation for Exadel and its clients.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Capability Build

Define and execute the Data Engineering strategy and operating model to support client delivery, internal innovation, and business growth
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global team of Data Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and Solution Engineers (team size: 3–8 initially)
Foster a culture of technical excellence, agility, collaboration, and continuous learning

Technical Strategy, Architecture & Delivery

Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale, cloud-native data engineering solutions covering:

Data Ingestion (batch, streaming, real-time)
Data Transformation (ETL/ELT, orchestration, compute frameworks)
Data Storage (Data Lakes, Lakehouse, Warehouses, NoSQL)
Data Consumption (APIs, BI tools, AI/ML platforms)

Drive the adoption of modern data engineering patterns such as Data Mesh, DataOps, Event-Driven Architectures, Serverless Data Pipelines
Collaborate with Data Architects, Governance Leads, AI Teams, and Business Consultants to ensure data solutions meet performance, security, and business outcome needs

Engineering Standards, Tools & Automation

Define and embed engineering best practices, coding standards, CI/CD, DevOps, and DataOps across all projects
Own the selection, implementation, and evolution of engineering tools, frameworks, and platforms such as:

Apache Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse, dbt, Kafka, Airflow, Fivetran, Informatica, Matillion
Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)

Drive innovation in automation, monitoring, testing, and pipeline reliability to ensure industrial-grade data solutions

Client Delivery & Commercial Impact

Lead complex, high-profile data engineering solutioning and delivery for Exadel’s clients—ensuring excellence in execution, scalability, and measurable business value
Shape revenue-generating offerings, accelerators, and reusable components to improve delivery efficiency and margin
Support pre-sales, client engagements, proposal writing, and thought leadership in the market

What You Bring

12+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or Cloud Data Solution Delivery, with at least 5+ years in technical leadership or head-of-role capacity
Proven track record in:

Building and leading data engineering teams in a fast-paced, consulting or enterprise environment
Delivering large-scale data platforms, pipelines, and transformation projects across industries

Deep technical expertise in:

Data ingestion frameworks (Kafka, Event Hubs, Pub/Sub, IoT)
ETL/ELT frameworks and tools (dbt, Spark, PySpark, Azure Data Factory, Glue)
Data storage technologies (Delta Lake, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery)

Programming languages: Python, SQL, Scala or Java
Strong understanding of data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional) and data integration patterns (S2T mapping, near real-time processing, batch processing
Experience in DevOps, CI/CD for data, MLOps, and cloud-native solution design
Proven ability to work with enterprise architects, data scientists, and business leaders to ensure end-to-end solution success
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence C-level clients and technical teams alike
Visionary technology leader with the ability to execute at pace

Commercially minded with a strong focus on revenue growth, margin protection, and client satisfaction
