NeoRonin Interactive is a young video game development company focused on crafting hardcore games — experiences that respect the player’s intelligence and time investment.
We aim to deliver deep, complex, and challenging gameplay that demands dedication and rewards mastery. Our mission is guided by a clear set of principles: prioritizing core gameplay, embracing complexity, and targeting a committed audience that values skill-based progression and meaningful challenge.
We are currently developing an operational and tactical combat simulation set in a stylized vision of future warfare — blending realistic systems with bold design choices. To help us bring this vision to life, we are looking for a skilled Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and programming, ensuring efficient content integration and optimized visuals in our project.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with artists and programmers to ensure efficient asset integration in Unreal Engine for multiple platforms such as Windows and iOS.
• Develop and maintain shaders, materials, and VFX.
• Create and maintain tools to support the art pipeline.
• Optimize art assets and visual effects to ensure performance and memory efficiency based on performance profiling on target platforms.
• Assist in creating efficient workflows for importing and managing assets.
• Troubleshoot visual and performance issues related to art and rendering.
• Help define technical standards and best practices for asset production and implementation.
• Work closely with VFX, animation, and UI teams to support and improve visual consistency.
• Create scripts, tools, and Blueprints to automate and improve processes within the engine.
• Act as a technical advisor for the art team on limitations and engine capabilities.
Requirements
• 5 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist or in a similar role in game development.
• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine, including materials, shaders, Blueprints, and asset pipelines.
• Experience working with shaders and VFX.
• Experience with other platforms like mobile development or console - Nice to have.
• Solid knowledge of 3D art tools (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max) and integration workflows.
• Experience in performance optimization (draw calls, texture memory, LODs, etc.).
• Familiarity with scripting (HLSL, Python, or similar) is a plus.
• Understanding of rendering systems, lighting, and VFX in real-time engines.
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to technical detail.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
Soft Skills Requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong organization and task management.
• Team-oriented mindset with an understanding of artistic and technical constraints.
• Proactive approach to identifying and solving pipeline issues.
• Adaptability to changing requirements and feedback.
• Ability to work remotely while maintaining consistent communication.
What We Offer
• Above-average salary for the Portuguese market.
• Flexible remote work options.
• A dynamic and challenging environment, with innovative and ambitious projects.
• Significant growth opportunities, including the potential to take on leadership roles in the future.
Application Process
The selection process consists of two interview stages:
1. Personal Interview – To evaluate your motivation, profile, and soft skills, and to introduce you to our project.
2. Technical Interview – To assess your technical expertise and discuss the challenges of the role.
If you’re excited to shape the visual backbone of our combat simulation experience, send your portfolio and CV to [email protected] with the subject: “Technical Artist”.
