Note: We need a local engineer and need to have the tools


Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Field Engineer to support the onsite installation of network hardware, including switches, access points, and—where applicable—UPS and PDU devices. The engineer will be responsible for physically setting up and organizing all new equipment, attending a remote onboarding session, and coordinating with the project team to ensure all devices are properly installed, labeled, and staged for configuration.

Requirement:

  • Experience with the physical installation of network hardware (rack-mounted switches, APs, PDUs, UPS, etc.)
  • Ability to follow remote team instructions via online meeting tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
  • Knowledge of cabling, console access, and power equipment setup
  • Must be organized, punctual, and capable of working independently onsite

Required Equipment (Technician Must Bring):

  • Console cable
  • Laptop with console access tools (e.g., PuTTY)
  • Screwdrivers (Philips & flathead)
  • Pliers
  • Step stool
  • Tone generator
  • Fiber tester
  • Flashlight or spotlight
  • Headlamp (recommended for low-light environments)
  • Microsoft Teams (installed and tested)
  • Camera or smartphone (for documentation)
  • Label printer
  • Fine-tip marker

Pre Cutover Racking Activity with AP Configuration without Mounting

Pre-Site Requirements:

  • Confirm site access and expected arrival time with the Site POC
  • Join the pre-scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting for installation instructions
  • Review any pre-deployment documentation or device labels shared by the client
  • Ensure all tools and electronic devices are fully charged and functional

On-Site Responsibilities:

  1. Arrive on time and check in with the designated site contact
  2. Join the Microsoft Teams meeting with the remote team
  3. Locate and unbox all equipment: switches, access points, and (if applicable) UPS and PDU
  4. Neatly store boxes in the same room, out of the way for future use
  5. Install the new UPS and/or PDU if provided
  6. Rack-mount and connect switches LEAVING EXISITNG NETWORKING EQUIPMENT UNTOUCHED and Online.
  7. Connect new AP's in the Server room configuration. No Mounting of AP's in this visit.
  8. Label all cables and devices using a label printer or marker
  9. Ensure all work is tidy, secure, and according to the client's guidelines

Post-Site Requirements:

  • Take clear photos of the final installation (rack, wiring, devices, labels)
  • Submit a brief report of the tasks completed and any issues encountered
  • Confirm with the remote team that installation is successful
  • Leave the site clean and organized
