DevOps Engineer

Contract Details

• Duration: 12 months (view to extend another 12)
• Location: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth or Darwin
• Work Arrangements: 2 days WFH per week
• Australian Citizenship is required

Company Overview

BLACKROC is partnering with a high-profile federal agency delivering critical national systems in the public safety and investigations space. This is a rare opportunity to join a project with real impact, contributing to the design and execution of cloud-native DevOps infrastructure.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer with deep expertise across AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and containerized data platforms. This role will lead the infrastructure and DevOps capability on one of the most high-impact government cloud programs in the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and support national-scale AWS infrastructure
• Manage container orchestration with Kubernetes and Docker
• Automate provisioning with Terraform and integrate CI/CD pipelines
• Enhance and secure SAS VI platforms, including data ingestion and rule building
• Lead agile engineering teams and act as a senior voice in DevOps strategy
• Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions

Key Skills and Experience

• Strong AWS architecture experience
• Advanced Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code capability
• CI/CD, GitOps and DevOps automation expertise
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and/or Golang
• Kubernetes orchestration at scale
• Knowledge of SAS Visual Investigator, API integrations and alerting
• Australian Citizenship is required

Desirable Skills

• PostgreSQL / MySQL database engineering
• Azure DevOps exposure
• Vault secret management
