Senior Java/Javascript & Backend Developer

Brief Description of the Tasks

The IT department of a federal organization responsible for managing several ICT projects has identified the need for additional external expertise to support its internal teams. This need is particularly relevant for two specific initiatives, including a data exchange project between key public sector entities.

Given the complexity and specialized skills required, integrating external professionals into a mixed team structure is considered essential to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

The project will be executed in a cloud environment (OpenShift) and includes three major phases:

1. Design and development of IT microservices
2. Project-wide coordination and management
3. Infrastructure setup in collaboration with federal partners

The goal of the project is to enable secure and efficient data exchange between multiple government bodies and ensure interoperability in a federated IT environment.

Desired Profile

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in:

• Working in a federal or public-sector context (similar to national agencies or ministries)
• Building and integrating SOAP and REST APIs
• Working within cloud-based, containerized infrastructures such as OpenShift
• Refactoring code and designing technical interfaces

These qualifications are essential to ensure successful project delivery within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of Java and JavaScript (backend-focused)
• Experience with REST/SOAP interfaces
• Familiarity with cloud environments (Kubernetes), networks, systems, and applications
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum) and/or project management standards like PM² or Prince2
• Bonus: Experience with Docker and OpenShift

Responsibilities

• Report to the development team and project manager
• Participate in risk assessment and escalate when needed
• Contribute to on-time, on-scope project delivery
• Mentor junior developers
• Document solutions and processes effectively

Preferred Experience

• Participation in large-scale projects (approx. 3,000 man-days)
• Prior experience in federal or government environments
• Hands-on experience with:
• Kubernetes / Docker
• Java / JavaScript
• REST / SOAP integration
