Why you want this job? As a Back-End Developer at ANWB for our Apps and applications, you are the driving force that will make things happen. You initiate, monitor and guide the full chain of development. From user story (business/user demand) towards the feedback loop of the final application!

Your work reaches hundreds of thousands users, as you make sure these applications run smooth and stay relevant by continuously adding value. This way Julia won’t notice the integration and transition of another third party when she uses the parking application. To her it is business as usual, parks her car, has her lunch meeting, drives off and gets charged for the actual time she was parked (without having to sign off her parking spot).

  • What you are going to do as a Backend Developer?
  • You will solve business problems by aligning with product owners and translating the business demand towards the development team
  • As a tactical team player, you will cover all the knowledge
  • You will manage the projects by drafting API specifications together with the team, setting up new requirements for existing applications, checking the quality and developing yourself
  • You will review code and delegate to enable others to deliver and set them up for success
  • You are the teams technical voice when representing us towards third parties (suppliers and Government) and you will lead these meetings
  • You have an open mindset, you can share your vision, inspire and coach teams and developers using you interpersonal and soft-skills

As a Backend Developer you are part of the Tribe Customer Journey. The Tribe makes an important contribution to the business objectives. The total Tribe comprises approximately 100 employees. Within the Platform organization the Tribe Customer Journey, the Tribe Acquisition, the Tribe Members & Relations, the Tribe Digital Channels and the CoE Brand are created. In the Platform organization we focus on the one hand on creating qualitative and valuable interactions and on the other hand on realizing an open and scalable platform with a relevant offer. Do we have a match?

  • You are an experienced Backend Developer with a solid understanding of Java/Kotlin/Spring boot
  • You have experience with API design and development
  • Preferably have some knowledge or expertise in AWS, docker & k8s, mobile frontend development
  • An extra credit if you had some exposure to Javascript, familiarity or openness to learn Kotlin
  • You are a resident of the European Union and can work within the EU (or have a valid Visa)

Besides this you are a typical problem solver. You have strong sense for result, optimization and ownership over the product. You are both hands on/ pragmatic as tactical, so on some occasions you will review code and set new requirements, but also delegate and enable others to take the team to the next level. You are a team player and can communicate clearly to team members as well as (external) stakeholders. But mainly you are enthusiastic, proactive and you want to change the world! You’ll be working to facilitate innovation and experimentation with turn-by-turn navigation for Millions of users. In an energetic and dynamic great workplace culture!
