Cloud Engineering Manager

We are currently seeking a Cloud Engineering Manager who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing complex cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud architecture, a deep understanding of cloud platforms and a proven ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions.

Our client based in Dubai, is one of the largest semi-government organisations in the region. This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 6 months and is renewable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively ensure the repeatability, stability, resilience, and scale of all cloud services across the organisation, and make sure services are available, cost optimised and fit for purpose.
• Lead the design and architecture of cloud-based solutions that align with business and technical requirements, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
• Develop comprehensive cloud strategies and roadmaps for cloud adoption, application modernization, and migration.
• Responsible for the operation, progression and life-cycle management of cloud platforms, resources and related service offerings within agreed budgets, service levels, risk, and compliance frameworks.
• Manage and operate end-to-end cloud environment, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security, with a focus on hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure, adhering to a well-architected framework.
• Constantly looks for better ways of solving technical problems and designs the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo.
• Lead infrastructure migration methodologies ensuring compliance with security and governance requirements.
• Foster a culture of cloud computing expertise internally and externally, promoting continuous learning and upskilling to drive cloud adoption, with a particular focus on cybersecurity awareness.
• Act as a key stakeholder in validating new cloud or SaaS solutions, ensuring alignment with the organisation's architecture roadmap and security standards.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior architects and cloud engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Ensure all cloud solutions adhere to rigorous security and compliance best practices and incorporating required architecture principles and design.
• Identifies bottlenecks in Cloud platform and infrastructure and Leads knowledge growth effort of platform configuration management and troubleshooting.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

• Demonstrated expertise in Azure cloud architecture and migration skills.
• Previous experience working in large corporate environments.
• Proficiency in cloud architecture design, including microservices, serverless computing, container orchestration(e.g. Kubernetes), IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
• 7+ years of extensive experience with a strong focus on managing Azure cloud, server, storage, networking, PaaS and implementing cloud security best practices.
• Experience with working in Agile methodology , with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field
• Industry standard technical certifications
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of technologies, such as Azure IaaS-PaaS-SaaS, IAC, ARM Templates, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Terraform, Ansible, Azure AD, SSO, Azure SQL, Application Modernization, MS SQL, PowerBI, Kubernetes, and Docker, with relevant security configurations as an integral part.
