About Us

The department Test & Integration (T&I) within Thales Netherlands Naval is responsible for the integration and testing of radar equipment units (such as antennas, transmitters, receivers) and testing of complete radar systems during the whole system life cycle. Furthermore he department T&I is responsible for the installation and setting into operation of the systems at customer locations, the execution of the system performance tests and performing services as health checks, technical assistance and repairs.

For this department we are looking for a: System Test Engineer

About The Job

In the role of System Test Engineer you will be working in an exciting and technically challenging domain integrating radar and electro optical systems. These high tech systems include state of the art radar antennas, processing- and supporting systems. You will be part of a test team and will work on these systems during their whole lifecycle. You will work both on our premises and on customer locations (including on board of ships) around the world, to deliver our systems and services to our customers.

Your specific tasks will include:

  • Independently integration and testing of radar and electro-optical systems;
  • Performing tests on site, on board ship in harbor and at sea;
  • Evaluating the performance of the system in its operational environment;
  • Acting as trouble shooter in case of technical and/or performance problems;
  • Providing services such as system health checks, maintenance and repair.


About you This job is perfect for an enthusiastic professional with the ambition to work abroad on a regular base. We are looking for a hands on team player, who is interested in working with both legacy and the newest technologies.

You have:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree in a field such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer science, Applied Physics or Mechatronics;
  • A strong affinity with radar techniques. Affinity with analogue technologies, the Linux terminal or computer networks are an advantage;
  • Professional language skills in English (verbal and written), other foreign language skills are an advantage;
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capacity;
  • The ability to empathize with other cultures and customs;
  • Experience in field services is a big advantage.
