Solutions Architect

The Solution Architect will lead the design and development of secure, scalable, and high-performing technical solutions that support the successful implementation of Smart City initiatives. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, government stakeholders, and external solution providers to ensure technical solutions are aligned with business goals, platform strategy, and urban innovation objectives. The Solution Architect plays a key role in ensuring that all solutions comply with data governance, privacy regulations, and interoperability standards.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Design robust cloud-native architectures for Smart City use cases using platform services and modern technologies.

• Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution blueprints.

• Define architecture patterns for data ingestion, integration, analytics, and visualization for urban-scale applications.

Solution Development & Proposals

• Provide technical leadership across the full solution lifecycle—from design through deployment.

• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure architectural alignment and implementation fidelity.

• Evaluate and recommend platform services and third-party technologies that fit project needs.

• Prepare technical proposals and solution documents for internal and external stakeholders.

• Conduct solution validation and ensure targets for scalability, performance, and availability are achieved.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Engage with government departments, domain experts, and vendors to integrate solutions into the broader Smart City architecture.

• Support technical evaluation and onboarding of partner solutions and technology providers.

• Mentor development teams and provide architectural guidance throughout project execution.

• Some travel or extended hours may be required to support project milestones and stakeholder engagements.

Governance, Standards & Best Practices

• Ensure all solutions meet compliance requirements for security, data privacy, and public sector regulations.

• Advocate and enforce best practices in DevSecOps, microservices design, and API-driven architectures.

• Maintain architecture documentation and support reuse of solution components.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the IT industry, including at least 5 years in a solution or technical architect role.

• Demonstrated experience in large-scale public sector, smart city, or urban infrastructure projects.

• Clear communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proven ability to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of digital solutions.

Technical Expertise

• Cloud Platforms: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including:

o Azure App Services, Functions, Kubernetes Service (AKS), API Management, IoT Hub, Azure Monitor, Data Factory, and Databricks.

• Architecture Patterns: RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, microservices, enterprise integration.

• Application Development:

o Frontend: React, Angular, Vue

o Mobile: Flutter, React Native

o Backend: .NET Core, Node.js, Python

o Responsive design and Progressive Web Apps (PWA)

• Authentication & Identity: Azure AD B2C, OAuth2, OpenID Connect.

• DevOps: CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub; container orchestration with Docker and AKS.

• Data Architecture: Experience with data lakes, real-time analytics, and secure data architecture.

• Smart City Tech: Familiarity with IoT, GIS, real-time data streaming, and citizen-facing digital solutions is a strong advantage.
