About The Role
Meritus is seeking a highly skilled Fullstack Software Developer for a 12-month contract to join a pivotal project within the Environment Simulator Group. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining real-time simulation environments that test the operation of various subsystems. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the Web UI components and maintaining .NET microservices, contributing to the development of sophisticated simulation tools essential for defense applications. This position requires a sole British national with active live SC clearance, as the role is fully onsite in Stevenage. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaborative spirit to support the ongoing development and integration of complex systems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with relevant experience in fullstack development, particularly within complex, distributed systems. Essential qualifications include proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and C#. Experience with modern frameworks and libraries like Svelte, Angular, Vue.js, React, and .NET 7/8 is required. Candidates should be familiar with tools such as Visual Studio, Jira, GitLab, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, and Artifactory. A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, design patterns, and algorithms, is necessary.
Additionally, experience working within an agile development environment, setting up CI/CD pipelines, and practicing modern testing methodologies such as TDD is essential. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as experience with complex, distributed systems, will be highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, and experience mentoring junior team members.
Desirable qualifications include experience with C++, Linux system administration, DevOps practices, and deployment processes, which will give candidates an edge in managing and optimizing the development lifecycle.
