Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of data-driven innovation within ABB. You will contribute significantly to the development of advanced AI and data science solutions that power our digital platforms and smart energy systems. Each day, you will apply your expertise to solve complex problems, drive innovation, and support the development of cutting-edge technologies.

The work model for the role is: hybrid.

Location: European time zone

This role is contributing to the Digital Platforms & Capabilities Agile Unit in Electrification Smart Power.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

• Develop Advanced AI and Data Science Solutions: Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and AI algorithms to support digital energy platforms and smart power systems.
• Lead Data-Driven Projects: Take ownership of end-to-end data science initiatives, from data exploration and feature engineering to model validation and deployment.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with software engineers, product owners, domain experts, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Promote Innovation and Best Practices: Stay up to date with the latest trends in AI and data science, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications For The Role

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI roles, preferably in industrial or energy-related sectors.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Experienced in working with Large and Small Language Models, as well as prompt engineering. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and MLOps practices is a plus.
• Familiarity with energy systems, IoT data, or industrial automation is highly desirable.
• Analytical thinker with a proactive, problem-solving attitude. Comfortable working in agile environments and navigating ambiguity.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
