About the Opportunity

A Dublin based multinational tech company are seeking a Principal Systems & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This is a hands-on, operationally focused role with some leadership and mentoring responsibilities, ideal for an experienced IT professional ready to drive technical initiatives and support a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Systems & Cloud Management
• Deploy, configure, and maintain IT systems in Linux (Debian preferred) and Windows environments
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS; Azure experience a plus)
• Oversee SQL (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases

Security & Monitoring

• Enforce robust cybersecurity measures, including disaster recovery and incident response
• Monitor system performance using tools such as ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and TIGK (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, Kapacitor)
• Ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ISO-27001, SOC-2) and maintain audit readiness

Automation & DevOps

• Develop automation scripts and workflows with Terraform and Ansible
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Champion DevOps best practices for deployment and automation

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level system administrators
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure projects and innovative technical solutions
• Occasional on-call rotation for critical incidents

Required:

• 5+ years in system administration or IT operations (strong Linux expertise)
• Degree in Computer Science, IT Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in AWS (Azure or Google Cloud a plus)
• Experience managing SQL and NoSQL databases
• Advanced scripting skills (Bash essential; Python and PowerShell a plus)
• Expertise in Terraform and Ansible for automation
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices
• Strong troubleshooting, networking, and communication skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Kubernetes and Windows environments
• Knowledge of ELK and TIGK monitoring stacks
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• Programming experience in PHP, Go, or Python
