Software Engineer - Tracking Data Processing (All Gender)

About The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of an expert team of software engineers, data engineers and analysts working towards generating and providing insights to guile Zalando’s business, which boasts over 50 million customers across 50 countries. Your focus will be the design, development, and improvement of several event streaming software systems. In this role your main challenges are going to be ensuring the system adheres to the latest software engineering standards, designing and implementing new data products, gaining a comprehensive understanding of our data and ensuring its quality for our stakeholders.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• Join an agile team of experienced backend engineers to develop an event processing system to provide the most relevant experience for our customers
• Contribute to the design, building and maintenance of a large-scale distributed system using technologies like Java, Apache Flink, Nakadi , and Kubernetes
• Share your knowledge and learn from your colleagues, contributing to a supportive team environment
• Collaborate with different engineering, ML and analytical teams and individual stakeholders to build and continuously improve data products for various business needs
  
  
  

What Are We Looking For

• You have at least 3+ years of experience as a software engineer using Java or other JVM based languages. Familiarity with Spring Boot is a plus.
• You have some understanding of designing, developing and operating distributed systems and microservices on cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS with Kubernetes).
• Experience with streaming processing systems (e.g. Apache Flink) is a big plus.
• You have interest in data engineering or have ever worked with Apache Spark or Databricks
• Basic knowledge of Golang is a plus
• You are an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence, and coding best practices such as clean code, readability, and test-driven development
