The Opportunity

Presight is seeking an innovative, creative and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to build the structure of advanced software applications by writing flawless business logic, server scripts, and APIs. You get to play a key technical role in sustaining and optimizing the infrastructure that develops and delivers cutting edge, next-gen analytics solutions at Presight.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices supporting digital currency issuance, transaction processing, and secure account management.
Write clean, efficient, and testable code in Java, Python, and Kotlin following best practices in modularity, testing, and documentation.
Ensure high-performance and low-latency transaction systems, capable of handling real-time, high-throughput operations.
Collaborate with software architects, DevOps, QA, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end financial systems.
Work closely with security and compliance teams to embed cryptographic standards, secure communication, and auditability into backend logic.
Optimize and tune services for scalability, reliability, and observability, ensuring 24/7 availability of mission-critical components.
Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and incident investigations, maintaining high engineering standards.
Comply with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management, and Governance of Organizations policies, procedures, plans, and related risk assessments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development.
Proven experience building and maintaining production systems in financial services, digital wallets, banking APIs, or payment networks is a strong plus.

Technical Skills

Proficient in Java, Python, and Kotlin, with strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and memory management.
Experience developing RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and message-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
Familiarity with secure data handling, cryptographic libraries, and PKI infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and designing efficient data schemas.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform) is a plus.
Exposure to DLT platforms (Hyperledger, Corda, Quorum, etc.) or digital asset workflows is highly desirable.

Preferred Financial & Sector Experience

Experience in real-time financial transaction processing environments such as RTGS, ACH, or card payment networks.
Familiarity with financial messaging standards such as ISO 20022, SWIFT, or FIX.
Prior work on CBDCs, stablecoins, digital wallets, or regulated payment gateways.
Understanding of regulatory and security concerns in banking, such as AML/CFT, transaction auditability, and KYC systems.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting APIs, design decisions, and technical notes.
Enthusiastic about learning new technologies, contributing to architectural discussions, and improving development workflows.
