JOB PURPOSE:
To design, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to Substance Use Disorders (SUD) research projects, supporting evidence-based treatment strategies, policy development, and educational initiatives at Naufar and in Qatar.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description:
Study Design & Methodology
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design robust statistical methodologies for SUD-related research studies.
- Determine appropriate sample sizes and power calculations to ensure study validity.
- Develop and implement data collection protocols that adhere to ethical and regulatory standards.
Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Perform advanced statistical analyses, including regression models, survival analyses, and longitudinal data assessments, to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
- Utilize statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, STATA, Power BI, Tableau) for data analysis and visualization.
- Interpret and contextualize statistical findings to inform clinical practices and policy decisions.
Reporting & Dissemination
- Prepare comprehensive statistical reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and scientific publications.
- Ensure transparency and reproducibility of research findings through meticulous documentation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain data integrity by implementing quality control procedures throughout the research process, in coordination with Naufar IT and data governance unit.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, national, and international research regulations and guidelines.
- Stay abreast of emerging statistical methodologies and best practices in biostatistics.
Collaboration & Capacity Building
- Provide statistical consultation and training to research staff and collaborators.
- Foster collaborative relationships with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and research entities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives to advance the understanding of SUD treatments and recovery.
Conferences and Trainings
- Facilitate conferences, seminars, workshops and training programs in coordination with Talent Management and applicable sub-committees to help Naufar professionals improve their expertise and understanding of mental/addiction disorders, and encourage the exchange of knowledge and skills within the institution and externally.
Relationship Management and Partnerships
- Facilitate the communication with external health care, non-academic and academic institutions.
- Maintain and follow up the MOUs and agreements with the other academic and research institutes.
Committee Involvement and Meetings
- Participate in relevant committee meetings (e.g. research committee) and perform duties as described in the committee Terms of Reference (TOR) to ensure that the committees achieve their objectives.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
- Contribute to the development and implementation of all relevant research policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
- PhD in a relevant research field- Desired
- Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field- Mandate
- Bachelor’s Degree in science or any related filed- Mandate
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in biostatistical analysis within clinical or public health research settings, with a focus on substance use or mental health
- Demonstrated experience in designing and analyzing complex research studies
