About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer with expertise in PHP and Laravel to join an environmentally focused technology company based in Norwich, with the flexibility of remote work. This pivotal role involves leading the development and enhancement of a cutting-edge data platform that processes and visualizes large volumes of real-time scientific data. As the company's first dedicated developer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical architecture and functionality of their innovative platform.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for building scalable, efficient, and user-friendly systems. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including data scientists, product managers, and designers, to deliver solutions that are both technically robust and aligned with the company’s mission to promote environmental sustainability. Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer, with strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel framework.
  • Solid front-end skills, particularly in Vue.js, with a good understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience working with relational databases, especially MySQL, including database design and optimization.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Linux server management and cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Version control expertise using Git, with experience in collaborative development environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Previous experience working on data-driven applications, APIs, or real-time processing systems is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain the company's data ingestion and processing platform, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Design and implement user interfaces that present complex data in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Build and maintain robust APIs to facilitate external integrations and data sharing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Drive technical decision-making and contribute to the overall architecture of the platform.
  • Write clear, comprehensive documentation for code, systems, and processes to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve the platform's performance and security.
  • Contribute to the company's agile development practices, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
