Software Engineer – Horizon Experiences (IC5 & IC6)

6-Month Contract | Meta (Reality Labs) | London – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite)

Job Description:

Meta's Reality Labs team is hiring experienced Software Engineers (IC5 and IC6) to join the Horizon Experiences group, building the next-generation Metaverse platform. These are 6-month contract positions, working onsite 3 days a week at the King’s Cross office in London.

This team is responsible for developing core runtime systems, improving platform stability and performance, debugging crashes, and enabling a seamless Horizon Worlds experience across Meta Quest devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Debug and resolve runtime crashes and performance issues
• Work with C#, Unity, and C++ to enhance system reliability
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines and internal tooling
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in the UK and US
• Profile performance, memory, and telemetry for stability and optimization
• Extend Unity runtime using Meta’s internal systems and tools

Required Skills (IC5 & IC6 Levels):

• 8+ years (IC5) / 10+ years (IC6) of professional software development experience
• Strong programming in C#, Unity, and C++
• Experience with Meta's internal tools (Phabricator, Sandcastle, Buck, Bazel)
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, debugging, and crash fixing
• Experience with Meta Quest hardware, runtime profiling, and performance optimization
• Background as a systems or product generalist, not focused on game development

Nice to Have:

• Prior Meta/Facebook/Reality Labs/Oculus experience
• Experience working with telemetry, test frameworks, and internal engineering systems
• Familiarity with Android or Windows development environments
