Job Role: Java Developer

Location: Perth

Scope of Service and Responsibilities

a) Designs and develops quality software or hardware products and solutions.

b) Understands business and customer requirements that drive the analysis and design of technical solutions.

c) Participates in all phases of product development lifecycle, including the analysis, design, test, integration and implementation of products and services.

d) Develops design specifications and parameters that are in compliance with products’ architectural blueprints;

e) Researches, evaluates, and incorporates new technology and tools to enhance the product development process;

f) Keeps up-to-date with emerging trends, standards and technologies in application development; and

g) May assist in the development of product user manuals, requirements, and testing plans.

Specialist Competencies

1. Demonstrable experience and understanding in Object Oriented design principles for bespoke software / solution development;
2. Demonstrable experience in significantly complex Enterprise Development with projects within commercial or Government organisations;
3. Demonstrable experience in Software Quality Assurance and SDLC models, highly desirable as an active participant in all ceremonies / processes of Agile, such as Scrum;
4. Demonstrable experience working with UI, services, and database (i.e. front and back end);
5. Demonstrated experience and understanding of Service Oriented Architecture; the development of application services, enterprise services and micro-services for reuse;
6. Experience with principles of test first and code for quality, using various test frameworks and techniques – e.g. Junit, Selenium, unit and integration testing, test driven development;
7. Demonstrable experience in one or more of: Java/J2EE, Angular 8+ and Springboot. Experience in JSF, JPA, EJB 3.0 highly desirable;
8. Demonstrable experience in developing and building web services, preferably REST, & SOAT JSON.
9. Exposure to micro-service development;
10. Exposure to distributed application development – e.g. transaction management, stateful vs stateless models, event models, cloud architecture;
11. Exposure to Weblogic application server deployment;
12. Experience in SAML and OAuth, highly desirable;
13. Experience in Progressive Web Application development, highly desirable;
14. Experience and understanding of both normalised relational database concepts and noSQL databases including experience in design of database structures and participation in domain modelling exercises;
15. Experience writing complex SQL;
16. Demonstrable experience in writing unit tests with JUnit, Arquilian and other frameworks with demonstrated understanding of unit testing principles;
17. Proven knowledge and experience in test development and integration activities for various ICT systems, software applications and interfaces, with experience writing Selenium tests using Java highly desirable;
18. Proven experience in integrating software with existing systems across a number of technologies and associated applications;
19. Adherence to the Customer’s approval processes;
20. Experience with Nexus, Gradle, Jenkins and Git;
21. Demonstrated experience in cloud services and technologies including contemporary knowledge of cloud security, compliance, privacy etc;
22. Demonstrable experience in contemporary techniques, services and technologies including, but not limited to: addressing security, compliance and privacy concerns, designing and utilising containers, DevOps, serverless compute services, automation and orchestration, API gateways, data warehouse and ETL; and
23. Demonstrable and significant experience with one or more different cloud computing vendors required (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
