About the role:
Mandatory Skills:
Kubernetes Administration (OpenShift / Rancher – On-Premise):
- Must have hands-on experience running and maintaining Kubernetes in non-cloud, self-hosted environments.
- Proficient with managing ingress controllers, network policies, persistent storage, RBAC, custom resources, and cluster add-ons.
- Experience with day-2 operations such as upgrades, resource tuning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
Linux Systems (RHEL):
- In-depth knowledge of administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux in on-premise setups.
CI/CD Tooling (GitLab, GitLab-CI):
- Experience designing and maintaining robust CI/CD workflows within GitLab, integrated into internal systems.
Scripting & Automation:
- Ability to automate repetitive tasks and orchestrate system configurations using Python and Bash.
GitOps & Infrastructure as Code:
- Practical experience using ArgoCD to manage and deploy Kubernetes manifests in a version-controlled and auditable way.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Understanding of Kubernetes security hardening in enterprise environments.
- Exposure to infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) in on-prem settings.
- Awareness of service mesh architecture and implementations (Istio, etc.).
- Any exposure to cloud environments is optional but not a focus for this role.
Deliverables:
- Ansible Tower to Red Hat AAP Migration:
- Successful migration of existing Ansible workloads and playbooks from legacy Ansible Tower to Red Hat Automation Platform (AAP), including operational readiness handover and documentation.
- GitLab Migration:
- Migration of existing GitLab workloads to a new, rebuilt SaaS instance (GitLab.com), including pipelines, repositories, runners, and integrations.
- Validation of functionality post-migration and delivery of updated operational documentation.
- OpenShift Upgrade Support (4.14 to 4.18):
- Provide planning, support, and execution assistance for the upgrade of OpenShift from version 4.14 to 4.18.
- Ensure operational continuity, issue remediation, and documentation updates reflecting the upgraded platform.
- Support for MDE Project DevOps Demand:
- Provide DevOps engineering support for the MDE Project, including assisting with CI/CD pipeline enablement, Kubernetes resource management, and integration tasks aligned to project timelines and deliverables.
- Ensure that DevOps contributions meet project delivery objectives and align with platform standards and operational requirements.
