About The Opportunity

Bitvavo is scaling its data capabilities across Compliance, Legal, and Risk, and we’re looking for a well-rounded (Senior) Data Scientist to drive actionable insights, develop intelligent solutions, and empower business teams through data.

In this role, you’ll combine hands-on analytics with data science techniques to solve business-critical problems. You’ll contribute to everything from developing intuitive dashboards and ensuring data quality to building predictive models and optimizing risk frameworks. You’ll work across domains such as Fraud, Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk and Onboarding, supporting strategic and operational goals with data-driven insights.

You’ll be expected to lead initiatives end-to-end, partnering with stakeholders, shaping solutions, and making impact.

What You'll Be Doing

In your capacity as a (Senior) Data Scientist, you will collaborate with other Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers to empower various business areas with data-driven insights. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive data analysis and building predictive models to tackle business challenges, uncover opportunities, and streamline processes in areas such as Risk, Fraud, Financial Crime, Compliance, and Onboarding.
  • Establishing and nurturing partnerships with stakeholders to promote a culture of data-centric decision-making within Bitvavo.
  • Leading the charge in data analytics and data science projects, from the planning stage through to execution, effectively turning insights into actionable strategies.
  • Collaborating closely with the many product and engineering teams at Bitvavo to enhance data sets and pipelines in order to make Bitvavo more data-driven.
  • Enabling the business by developing and deploying user-friendly self-service analytical tools, making them accessible to non-technical users and promoting widespread data utilization.

What We Look For

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Scientist, Analytics, or Quantitative role, ideally within Compliance, Risk, Legal, or Fintech Operations.
  • Solid academic background in STEM, Computer/Data Science, Econometrics, or a related field.
  • Expert SQL skills and fluency in Python (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, TensorFlow, Keras).
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI, and a good grasp of data modeling and metrics standardization.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex results for stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end, from data exploration and analysis to solution implementation.
  • Experience working cross-functionally, ideally in fast-paced, regulated environments.
