Deep Learning Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Deep Learning Engineer for a freelance engagement with a cutting-edge technology company based in Gothenburg. You will be part of an innovative R&D team working on next-generation AI solutions, with applications in computer vision, natural language processing, or autonomous systems (depending on project alignment).

This role offers the opportunity to apply your deep learning expertise on real-world problems, contribute to production-grade models, and collaborate with interdisciplinary experts in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize deep learning models for tasks such as image classification, object detection, or sequence modeling
• Train and evaluate models using state-of-the-art architectures (e.g. CNNs, RNNs, Transformers)
• Preprocess and manage large-scale datasets (image, video, audio, or text)
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and domain experts to translate business challenges into AI solutions
• Deploy models into production environments (cloud/on-premise/edge) using MLOps best practices
• Stay up-to-date with the latest deep learning research and apply relevant techniques

Ideal Profile:

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
• Strong knowledge of Python, NumPy, and related libraries
• Experience working with GPUs and large-scale training pipelines
• Familiarity with version control (Git), Docker, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Previous experience as a consultant/freelancer is a plus
• Swedish or EU residency/work permit required
