.Net Backend Developer

Location: Toronto (Liberty Village) or Mississauga

6 Month Contract Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive .NET Backend Developer to join our digital team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performing backend services that support enterprise applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values clean code, and enjoys solving real-world problems using modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable and secure backend services using C# and .NET frameworks
• Design and implement RESTful APIs with Web API for internal and external integrations
• Create, optimize, and maintain complex queries and stored procedures in SQL Server
• Utilize XML for data handling and configuration where required
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Apply version control best practices using GitHub or other modern tools
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and standups
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, ensuring performance and security standards
• Continuously improve systems with attention to maintainability, performance, and scalability

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience with C# (version 7.0 or higher)
• Strong experience with SQL Server 2019 or newer including stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning
• Solid understanding of Web API and building RESTful services
• Proficient in XML for structured data processing and integration
• Experience with GitHub or similar version control tools
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot effectively
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
• Experience with ASP.NET Web Forms (Framework 4.7)
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and React.js for integration with backend services
• Exposure to or experience with system integration and third-party API interaction
