Back-end Software Engineer (FinTech)

Overview

The company is building a next-generation B2B trading platform that enables brokers and wealth managers across Asia to access U.S. markets with high-speed, institutional-grade infrastructure.

The engineering team is deliberately small and high-performing, with team members previously from firms such as Jane Street, HRT, DE Shaw, and leading hedge funds. The company has strong financial backing from top-tier U.S. venture capital funds and strategic fintech investors.

Position Summary

This is a high-impact backend engineering role for someone who enjoys solving performance-critical problems and thrives in small, elite teams. The successful candidate will join as an early engineer and work directly with other technical founders to scale the company’s order management system, market data infrastructure, and trading backend.

This role is ideal for candidates who are entrepreneurial, self-directed, and excited by the opportunity to help shape technical architecture in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-throughput backend systems for real-time trading and data streaming
• Work closely with a globally distributed team on feature development, architecture decisions, and production deployment
• Integrate with multiple exchanges and third-party platforms (via REST, FIX, WebSocket, and gRPC)
• Optimize system latency, reliability, and observability for production trading
• Contribute to platform scalability, security, and performance tuning initiatives
  
  

Must-Have Skills

• Strong proficiency in Rust, C++, Python, or Golang
• Proven experience building real-time, low-latency systems or infrastructure for trading environments
• Familiarity with distributed architectures, message queues (e.g., Kafka), and cloud deployment (AWS, Terraform, Docker)
• Experience with WebSocket, FIX, or other real-time protocol integrations
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and communicate effectively in a remote-first setup
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to HFT, brokerage, or crypto exchange systems
• Interest in financial markets or prior work in a trading/quant environment
• Mandarin language ability is advantageous due to the company’s regional focus
