Network Engineer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and intermittently improving our current . You will design our revamped network Network Engineer infrastructure with the goal of maximizing our network performance. You will also provide troubleshooting and configuration support by using your strong technical skills in Linux and Windows environments and IP networking.

Strategy*

• Aware and understand the Group’s business strategies and models appropriate to the role.
• Deliver Network Services’ global WAN, LAN and WLAN strategies, in-line with the Banks’ strategy.
• Identify opportunities for automation, cost savings and service quality improvements.
• Work with various security domains within the team and across the Bank, to ensure the products and solutions are secure-by-design and meet the Bank’s stringent security standards.
• Establish and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with partners, vendors and service suppliers.
• Produce technical documentation i.e., High/Low Level Designs, build sheets, implementation plans, diagrams, whitepapers and operation guides, conduct proof-of-concept/value and lab tests on new products, technologies and features, ensuring they meet the Bank’s requirements, standards and objectives.
• Carry out knowledge transfer sessions to other colleagues, uplifting their awareness and technical understanding of the network.

Business*

• Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environments in which the group operates.
• Gain a deep understanding of the Bank’s objectives and priorities.
• As a critical technology service for the Bank, ensure the architecture and design are highly available, optimal and stable, providing the best possible quality-of-experience.
• Work alongside colleagues in Networks & Security Architecture domain, and across other domains such as Workplace, Cloud, Operations, Audit, Risk and Governance.
• Work closely with business and technology stakeholders from various functions, in an endeavour to develop outcomes that are cohesive and beneficial across the Bank.
• Work closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure security-first solutions and implementations.
• Develop influential and trustworthy working relationships with others. This should be aimed at improving team efficiency in performing their work.
• Provide consultancy and advisory services to the business and technology stakeholders for all product and solution related matters assigned.
• Provide operational and monitoring excellence.
• Be the SME for matters related to WAN, telecommunications, transport and connectivity.

Processes*

• Contribute towards identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling, and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, have an awareness and understanding of the risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
• The ability to interpret the Group’s Financial information, identify key issues based on all available information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
• Uphold the Bank’s best practices surrounding automation, onboarding, governance processes.
• Ensure the Bank’s change processes are consistently followed.
• Ensure Operational stability across the entire estate.
• Ensure that the team and overall Network and Security Architecture domain complies with the Bank’s processes related to technology onboarding and governance. These include Enterprise Security Architecture (ESA), IT Resiliency Guild (ITRG), Technology Services Technology Council (TSTC), Cloud Governance Framework.

Risk Management*

• Contribute towards identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling, and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, have an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role this individual plays in managing them.
• Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment.
• Ensure Network Architecture designs adhere to Group Security & Audit policies.
