iOS Team Lead (Founding Lead)
Our platform already boasts a thriving Android app and a community that sparks thousands of new conversations every day - yet the iOS experience is still waiting to shine. As our first iOS Team Lead for this app, you’ll take a well-defined product roadmap and core requirements, refine them into a practical engineering plan, and set the standards for quality and scalability. You’ll recruit and mentor a small iOS squad, foster a collaborative engineering culture, and work closely with Product and Design to translate user insights into features that delight. Expect the autonomy of a founding engineer, plus hands-on support from the existing Android and backend teams every step of the way.
In this role, you will
- Relaunch our iOS app from the ground up, turning a ready-made roadmap into a high-performance, production-ready experience
- Hire, mentor, and inspire a lean iOS squad, setting the bar for clean, testable code and modern engineering practices
- Own delivery timelines: break big goals into clear milestones and keep the team laser-focused on hitting them
- Establish the technical playbook—architecture, CI, code reviews—that will scale with millions of users
- Partner daily with Product, Design, Android, and Backend leads to turn bold ideas into features that delight users and solve real business challenges
It’s all about you
- 5+ years building and shipping consumer iOS apps, with at least one release that reached 100 k+ active users
- 2+ years in a Tech Lead or Team Lead role, hiring and coaching 2-5 engineers, running stand-ups, and guiding performance reviews
- Profound knowledge of Swift and iOS SDK
- Understanding of architectural concepts (MVVM+Clean Architecture)
- Deep understanding of Git and best practices (GitFlow, TBD, etc.)
- Familiarity with reactive programming (Combine)
- Experience with code signing and provisioning
- In-depth knowledge of UIKit and SwiftUI
- Familiarity with Google SDK, Facebook SDK, and Lottie (optional)
- Thorough understanding of multithreading
- Testing experience, including Unit/UI/Integration testing
- Database experience with CoreData/Realm
- Networking experience, including REST and sockets
- Experience with dependency managers such as SPM, CocoaPods, and Carthage
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment tools (Jenkins, Fastlane, Bitrise).
- Knowledge of UI/UX patterns for mobile
- Experience with Design Patterns
Would be a plus
- Proven history of designing—or completely rebuilding—app architecture and clearly defending your technical choices
- Hands-on experience with cross-platform sharing layers (e.g., Kotlin Multiplatform)
