Backend Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and driven Backend Engineer to join our fast-paced, mission-focused team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and developing the server-side components of a high-performance event streaming platform. You will work alongside front-end developers, domain specialists, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and robust solutions powering our real-time data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement clean, modular, and well-documented backend code in line with industry best practices.
Develop real-time data pipelines and an event-driven architecture to process continuous data streams and complex event flows.
Manage and optimize relational databases and handle large-scale datasets.
Troubleshoot and debug backend systems to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
Collaborate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and encouraging engineering excellence.
Continuously stay up to date with modern backend technologies, tools, and best practices.
Contribute to ongoing improvements in team workflows, tools, and technical strategy.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience designing APIs and managing databases.
Deep understanding of event streaming and messaging systems such as Apache Kafka.
Proficient in at least one backend language or framework; Golang preferred.
Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
Strong analytical and debugging skills.
Effective communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical team members.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualities:

Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design for scalability and performance.
Expertise in Golang is highly desirable.
Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem and tools like Hive, HDFS, Presto, HBase, and Spark.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and performance tuning.
Prior experience working in startups or product-based companies.
Highly adaptable, proactive, and motivated to learn and grow continuously.
