PHP Developer (European Commission, Brussels)

We are looking for a versatile Junior to Medior Developer to join our a team of talented developer within the Commission.

You will be involved in the maintenance and evolution of several internal applications, working closely with project managers and senior developers.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on ongoing projects and current maintenance needs.

Main Responsibilities:

• Bug fixing and application maintenance
• Technical migrations, including updating dependencies and improving compatibility
• Development of new features, often involving integration with other Commission services (internal and external APIs)
• Writing tests and documentation
• Participating in both frontend and backend development, depending on project requirements

Profile & Skills:

We value specialization, but flexibility is especially appreciated. You should be comfortable working across different layers of the stack:

• Frontend: Angular (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, HTTP requests)
• Backend: Symfony (PHP, integration of REST and SOAP APIs, Symfony configuration)
• Database: Oracle (complex SQL transactions)
• Other technologies: Regex, SPARQL (used in specific projects)
• Familiarity with external API integration, particularly for legal document processing
• Interest in or experience with AI-related tools is a plus
