Why This Role Matters

As a Expert Project Manager & Team Lead, you will play a dual role within the API BU Program Management Office (PMO). You will lead critical, high-impact projects while also mentoring and guiding a team of junior and mid-level Project Managers. In addition, you will be responsible for driving the adoption and continuous improvement of PMO standards and best practices — including maintaining our shared asset library and ensuring alignment across projects.

This role is ideal for someone who excels at both execution and enablement — someone who can lead by example, elevate the team, and still thrive in hands-on project delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery (Hands-On Work)

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic and/or complex cross-functional projects.
• Define project scope, milestones, risks, governance structure, and success metrics.
• Drive alignment between multiple stakeholders, manage blockers, and escalate where needed.
• Maintain a steady cadence (e.g. weekly syncs, steering committees) to ensure momentum and visibility.
• Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and delivery health.
  
  

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Act as the people lead and mentor for a group of Project Managers with direct reporting line manager responsibilities.
• Support in the team member’s growth, feedback, and development. Advise in resource planning and capacity assessments across the team.
• Be a go-to person for peer reviews, strategic project escalations, and project “second opinions.”
  
  

PMO Enablement & Standards

• Drive adoption of PMO best practices across projects (e.g. use of frameworks, risk logs, status updates).
• Own and maintain the PMO asset library, making sure assets are useful, up to date, and easy to adopt.
• Identify recurring issues, gaps, or inefficiencies in how projects are run, and proactively propose improvements.
• Help onboard new PMs and ensure consistency in project execution across the PMO.
  
  

What you'll bring

Required

• You have 10+ years of project/program management experience, ideally with exposure to both tactical execution and strategic initiatives.
• You’ve previously worked in a matrixed or supportive PMO model, and understand how to influence without formal authority.
• You’ve extensive experience in managing software projects.
• You’ve mentored or led other PMs before, and are comfortable giving feedback, coaching, and enabling others to succeed.
• You have strong stakeholder management skills and are comfortable working with technical, business, and leadership audiences.
• You are proactive, hands-on, and deeply care about making projects succeed.
