About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Android Developer to join our team on a contract basis outside IR35, with an immediate start. This role is pivotal in leading the redevelopment of a customer-facing mobile application, utilizing the latest Android development technologies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, demonstrating a proven track record of building or rebuilding Android applications from scratch. As a senior or SME-level developer, you will not only contribute to coding but also provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to the development team. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and collaborative skills, as you will work closely with stakeholders to shape product requirements and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable mobile solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of Android applications, especially greenfield or rebuild projects.
• Deep understanding of Android app architecture, UI/UX principles, and best practices for mobile development.
• Exceptional proficiency in Kotlin, including the use of Flows, extensions, and higher-order functions.
• Extensive experience with Jetpack Compose and familiarity with Jetpack libraries to design modern, responsive UI components.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in performance optimization for Android apps.
• Hands-on experience working with RESTful APIs, TDD, unit testing, and automation frameworks.
• Background working within Agile (SCRUM) environments, demonstrating adaptability and collaborative spirit.
• Solid DevOps knowledge, including CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and Azure DevOps tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor junior team members effectively.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory based on experience.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of white-label Android applications, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices.
• Define and implement architectural patterns, coding standards, and development workflows for new app projects.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and influence product direction.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a knowledge-sharing environment and promoting best practices within the team.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous integration processes to maintain high code quality.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues to optimize app performance and stability.
• Stay updated with the latest Android development trends, tools, and libraries to incorporate innovative solutions.
