Mills Recruitment is excited to launch a newly created internal opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Perth. This role marks a pivotal step in our strategic growth, as we invest in building internal platforms and automation tools that elevate how we deliver recruitment services.

As our first technical hire, you’ll have a blank canvas to architect, build, and lead the development of digital products that streamline operations, enhance client service, and improve the overall candidate experience. You’ll work closely with leadership and recruitment consultants to translate ideas into robust software solutions with real commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications and internal tools.
• Lead technical projects across both backend (PHP, Ruby on Rails) and frontend (ReactJS, AngularJS) stacks.
• Build RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services (e.g., Stripe, Google Maps, CRMs).
• Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure on cloud platforms such as Heroku and AWS.
• Gather business requirements from internal stakeholders and deliver user-friendly, scalable solutions.
• Drive code quality, technical documentation, and maintain a strong security posture.
• Lay the foundations for a future technical team as Mills Recruitment’s tech footprint expands.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with full stack capabilities.
• Advanced knowledge of PHP frameworks (Laravel, Zend, Symfony, WordPress).
• Solid experience with Ruby on Rails, along with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS and AngularJS.
• Deep understanding of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS EC2, RDS, S3, Heroku).
• Experience integrating APIs and building scalable backend systems.
• A strategic thinker with strong autonomy, initiative, and the ability to engage across non-technical teams.
• Previous exposure to recruitment, logistics, eCommerce, or enterprise applications is a plus.
