Senior Innovation Software Engineer

About the Job:

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer who thrives in ambiguity, loves building fast, and is energized by experimentation. This is not a conventional product engineering role. You’ll be joining our Digital Lab—a rapid innovation unit within Turkish Airlines Technology—where you’ll explore ideas, create MVPs, and help shape the future of aviation tech.

As a senior member of this team, you will build working software prototypes from scratch, drive technical direction, and work closely with designers, business owners, and R&D leads. You will have the autonomy to explore ideas and the responsibility to deliver outcomes fast.

Location: Libadiye Office

Reports to: Digital Lab Lead

This position will involve:

• Building MVPs Fast: Quickly prototype and validate new technology ideas that could enhance operations, customer experience, or generate new value.
• Hands-on Engineering: Design, develop, and test full-stack solutions using modern tools and frameworks.
• Tech Direction: Contribute to architectural decisions, technology choices, and innovation strategies across Digital Lab projects.
• Mentorship & Code Quality: Guide junior developers, uphold code quality through reviews and pair programming, and promote engineering best practices.
• Team Collaboration: Work with product, design, and business teams to scope, test, and iterate on early-stage solutions.
• Trend Evaluation: Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and architectures—especially in areas like GenAI, automation, and cloud-native tooling.
• Documentation & Demos: Document your decisions clearly and present working demos to stakeholders and leadership.

How do we describe the perfect match?

Technical Expertise:

• Expert-level experience in TypeScript and Python, with the ability to ship production-ready code.
• Strong foundation in modern front-end (React/Next.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Node.js, FastAPI).
• Sound architectural thinking—knows how to build scalable, maintainable solutions from zero to one.
• Experience with cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• AI/ML experience (e.g. LLMs, LangChain, vector search, TensorFlow, etc.) is a strong plus—but not mandatory.

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

• 5+ years in software engineering roles, including experience owning end-to-end delivery of projects.
• Track record of building fast, iterating with feedback, and delivering proof-of-concept or MVPs.
• Previous exposure to innovation, R&D, or startup environments is highly valued.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small project teams.

Skill Set:

• Comfortable in ambiguous environments and thrives under tight deadlines.
• Deep understanding of agile, lean, and iterative development practices.
• Clear, concise communicator—able to explain tech to designers, PMs, or executives.
• Proficient in Git, modern CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative tools like Jira or Notion.

Tech Stack at Digital Lab:

• Languages/Frameworks: TypeScript, Python, Next.js, Node.js, React, FastAPI
• AI/ML: OpenAI APIs, LangChain, Pinecone, Hugging Face (used in some projects)
• Cloud & Infra: GCP, Firebase, Vercel, Docker, GitHub Actions
