Position: AI and Signal Processing Researcher

Location: Oslo – Norway

Havguard is a company that develops hardware and software solutions from seabed to space. Our core competence is on underwater communication, and we are currently working on two long-term costumer projects. One of them on development of an AI based routing protocol for multi-domain communication, and another one on multi-modal underwater communication (optical, acoustic and magneto-induction with frugal AI). We mainly work on defense related projects, and solutions for oil/gas pipelines.

The company was founded in 2023 and has had an amazing journey so far. In April 2024 we were highlighted as a disruptive start-up in front of the underwater community in NATO HQ.

We are located in an outstanding office facility at Aker Tech House, Fornebu. It´s probably one of the best facilities a start-up can have.

Responsibilities:

As an AI and signal processing specialist, you will design, develop and deploy new-generation AIoT and wireless telecommunication systems dedicated to harsh and complex environments. 

Your main tasks will be as follows:

- Design functional and technical specifications of advanced AI algorithms through systemic analysis

- Propose and implement signal processing and AI-based techniques for target applications

- Research innovative solutions in the field of signal processing, AI and data sciences dedicated to embedded systems

- Design and implement the data processing methods to deploy AI solutions

- Actively participate in the development, implementation and integration of algorithms in embedded systems

- Produce technical documentation

- Explore innovative solutions and co-supervise research on the subject of AI and real-time signal processing

- Review and select the best tools required for project development using AI and signal processing 

- Validate and characterize the performance of the solutions delivered according to the state of the art

- Participate in the deployment and integration of the solutions with our international prime partners and clients

- Publish and participate in international and industrial top-level conferences

Profile: 

With a PhD degree in AI and signal theory and a concrete and proven successful experience in deployment of AI technologies.

Skills: 

- Mastery of the formalism and modern methods of signal processing and AI (optimal filtering, Reinforcement Learning, CNNs, …)

- Strong knowledge in mathematics (probability, graph theory and algebra)

- Mastery of system modeling tools (SysML, UML…)

- Mastery of AI development and validation processes and needed tools (Keras, …)

- Mastery of simulation tools and common software languages (Matlab, Pyhton…)

- Good knowledge of AI integration in low-power embedded systems or edge computing platforms and software languages (C, C++, …)

- Mastery of EDGE and FOG services using standard embedded platforms (ARM-based MCUs and DSPs with NPs/Mathematical co-processing units, …)

- Mastery of data visualization and DBMS tools

- Fluency in English (>C1)

Annual Salary: 800 000 - 1 000 000 NOK depending on experience
