User Experience Designer

Contract Details:

• Duration: 12 months
• Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne
• Work Arrangements: 2 days WFH per week
• Citizenship: Australian Citizens only (mandatory for security clearance)

Company Overview:

BLACKROC is working with a leading government-aligned organisation to engage a UX/UI Designer on a contract basis. This role will play a key part in shaping digital user experiences across platforms, collaborating on innovative projects that have a real-world impact.

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a passionate UX/UI Designer who thrives in collaborative environments. You’ll lead user research and co-design workshops, and bring concepts to life through wireframes, prototypes, and detailed UI designs. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency with design tools like Figma, a sound understanding of accessibility standards, and experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact digital services.

Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting user research and usability testing
• Facilitating co-design workshops
• Creating high and low fidelity wireframes and prototypes
• Collaborating with BAs, developers, and product owners
• Supporting design system implementation
• Influencing documentation for accessibility and user experience

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience with Figma, Sketch or similar tools
• Strong UX research and service design background
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Background in designing accessible digital products
• Previous experience in Government or WCAG-compliant environments (desirable)

Note: Australian Citizenship is essential due to project and security clearance requirements.
