Paynovate is scaling up, and we're looking for a Head of Engineering who thrives in high-ownership, no-nonsense environments. You won't be starting from scratch. Instead, you'll build on a solid base, optimize it, and lead our engineering team with clarity, focus and purpose.

Your mission

As Head Of Engineering, You'll

• Lead, grow and coach our engineering team, ensuring strong fundamentals and lean practices
• Drive strategic development: structure, process, infrastructure.
• Ensure optimal use of resources—no tech sprawl, no unnecessary rebuilds.
• Own our refactoring roadmap: scaling a live system, not rewriting it.
• Act as a key voice in financial and strategic decisions, including budget planning and forecasting.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Managers and Sales & Marketing to challenge ideas and make sure every feature we develop makes business sense.
• Represent the engineering function in leadership forums and partner discussions.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• A lean thinker: You understand how to build and scale with limited resources.
• A seasoned leader: 10+ years in tech, including experience managing engineers and working cross-functionally.
• A track record of optimization: You've scaled products without bloating headcount or budget.
• A refactoring champion: You've successfully optimized legacy codebases—without pushing for a rebuild.
• A business partner: You're comfortable navigating C-level discussions, managing up and across.
• A builder of people: Recruitment, team dynamics, and skill development are your bread and butter.
