About the project:

We are seeking a forward-thinking and experienced AI Engineer to join our team. This is a strategic role focused on governing the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-powered developer tools and "Model Context Protocol" (MCP) servers within our organization. The successful candidate will be engineering the essential guardrails, evaluation frameworks, to ensure they are secure, compliant, accurate, and aligned with our enterprise standards.

This role is central to our strategy of securely harnessing the power of generative AI and AI Agents within our development environments, such as VS Code. You will be responsible for implementing and documenting AI agents in our enterprise context, enabling our developers to innovate following the strictest compliance and regulatory standards.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Develop an Automated Evaluation Process:
• Spearhead the design and conceptualization of an automated process to evaluate and certify MCP servers. This includes defining the criteria and metrics for evaluation, with an initial focus on accuracy, compliance, and adherence to our reference architectures.
• Define RAG Quality Standards:
• Establish clear standards for the quality, structure, and maintenance of the knowledge corpora (documentation, code examples, data files) that power the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities of each MCP server.
• Oversee MCP Registry Integration:
• Secure, test and validate the primary integration registry component. Define the security requirements and acceptance criteria for an MCP server to be included into the official enterprise registry.
• Collaborate and Advise:
• Work closely with development teams, platform owners, and security stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the governance framework is practical, enabling, and effectively risk mitigating.
• Iterate and Improve:
• Continuously refine the evaluation criteria and governance model based on learnings, new threats, and evolving technology, ensuring our governance keeps pace with the speed of AI innovation.

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Deep expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), including a thorough understanding of what constitutes a high-quality knowledge corpus and how to evaluate RAG system performance.
• Demonstrated experience implementing AI Agents, particularly in the context of MCP prompts, resources, tools and utilities.
• Excellent ability to design service-integration processes and their automation within an agentic environment.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate high-level business and technical requirements into a concrete governance framework.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Experience with automating testing or evaluation pipelines for AI/ML models.
• Familiarity with enterprise technology platforms and data standards.
• Knowledge of the evolving market of AI developer tools and copilots.
