The ELV Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, planning, installation, and commissioning of fiber optic cable infrastructure, including ducting systems. This role involves coordination with civil and telecom teams to ensure seamless integration of ELV systems within project timelines and specifications. Please note that this role is for a short-term engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Planning:
- Review and interpret fiber optic network designs and ELV system layouts.
- Coordinate with design consultants and civil engineers for duct routing and trenching plans.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and client specifications.

- Installation Supervision:
- Oversee fiber optic cable laying, duct installation, and termination activities.
- Ensure proper labeling, splicing, and testing of fiber cables.
- Monitor installation of handholes, manholes, and other ducting infrastructure.

- Coordination & Permits:
- Liaise with authorities and stakeholders for necessary permits and approvals.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for timely delivery of materials and services.

- Testing & Commissioning:
- Conduct OTDR, power meter, and continuity tests to validate fiber performance.
- Prepare test reports and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.

- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of installation progress, material usage, and test results.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and clients.

- Quality & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all works adhere to safety standards and quality control procedures.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues promptly.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ELV systems and fiber optic infrastructure.
- Familiarity with standards such as TIA/EIA, ITU-T, and local telecom regulations.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MS Project, and fiber testing tools (OTDR, splicing machines).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of ELV systems and fiber optic technologies.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
