Product Manager - SME Financing

The Product Manager is responsible for the end-to-end development, enhancement, and management of fintech products, ensuring they meet market needs and deliver an exceptional user experience. This job requires a data-driven, customer-focused, and technology-savvy individual who can bridge the gap between business, technology, and user needs. The Product manager oversees product lifecycle management, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation to position Alterna Finance as a market leader in financial technology.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive product strategy aligned with Alterna Finance’s business goals.
• Develop a scalable product roadmap for Earned Wage Access (EWA) and SME financing solutions.
• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback assessments to identify opportunities for product innovation.
• Align product development with fintech industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
• Work closely with leadership to define KPIs, growth metrics, and monetization strategies for products.
• Own the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and UX teams to create seamless and intuitive digital experiences.
• Prioritize feature development based on customer feedback, market needs, and business impact.
• Oversee product iterations, A/B testing, and continuous improvements to enhance user experience.
• Ensure products are secure, scalable, and integrated seamlessly with payment gateways, payroll systems, and banking APIs.
• Introduce AI-driven risk assessment models and alternative credit scoring methodologies for SME financing.
• •Gather and analyse customer insights to refine product features, usability, and functionality.
• •Define and track customer experience (CX) and user journey metrics, ensuring high satisfaction and retention.
• •Work with the customer success and support teams to address pain points and drive product improvements.
• •Develop intuitive self-service options, chatbots, and automation tools to enhance customer experience.
• •Ensure seamless integration with HR payroll systems, banks, digital wallets, and financial APIs.
• •Work with the engineering team to optimize platform performance, security, and compliance.
• •Evaluate and implement open banking, embedded finance, and blockchain technologies to enhance offerings.
• •Lead API strategy for partnerships with third-party fintech providers and enterprise clients.
• •Develop and monitor product KPIs, user adoption rates, and financial performance metrics.
• •Use data analytics, customer insights, and business intelligence to inform product decisions.
• •Implement AI and machine learning models for behavioural analytics and fraud detection.
• •Collaborate with marketing teams to execute go-to-market strategies, pricing models, and user acquisition campaigns.
• •Ensure all product features comply with financial regulations, KYC/AML policies, and data protection laws.
• •Work with legal and compliance teams to maintain adherence to regional fintech regulations.
• •Implement risk mitigation strategies for digital lending and wage access platforms
• •Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
• •Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product management, fintech, digital lending, or payment solutions.
• Proven experience in launching and scaling fintech products within high-growth startups or financial institutions.
• Hands-on experience with digital payments, embedded finance, and open banking APIs.
• Strong background in customer experience (CX), UX/UI design principles, and user behaviour analysis.
• Experience working with engineering teams to build data-driven, AI-powered fintech platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
• MBA or specialization in Fintech, Digital Payments, or Product Management is preferred.
• Certifications in Agile Product Management, UX Design, or Data Analytics are a plus.
