Senior PHP Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer who should be able to do the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance Front end and backend systems.

This is a hands-on developer role where you write clean, maintainable and performant code and work with our product team to create/enhance great products. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle including the design, development, deployment and maintenance of new and existing features. You are required to produce detailed specifications. Ultimately, your work will impact the codebase of our products in a meaningful way. You will be our go-to person for all PHP projects and you will be an integral part of the product team.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, DevOps, QA, product managers, and integration engineers to build modern, maintainable systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Development

• Design and develop robust PHP applications using modern frameworks like Laravel, Symphony
• Implement and enforce clean architecture patterns. MVC
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and modular backend components.
• Perform complex debugging, performance tuning, and code optimization.
• Should be proficient in database operations

System Design & Integration

• Work with other Developers for integrations with third-party systems
• Manage database design, optimization, and data integrity (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)

DevOps & CI/CD

• Define and manage CI/CD workflows using tools like Jenkins Pipelines
• Work with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with DevOps for deployment pipelines, monitoring, and performance tuning.

Testing & Code Quality

• Implement automated unit, integration, and functional tests (PHPUnit, Pest).
• Ensure code reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Familiarity with Code Quality Tools such as PHP Code Sniffer, PHPMD
• Should have experience of optimizing code for Performance using Optimization Tools

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Stack

• Strong command of PHP 7.x / 8.x with OOP principles
• Frameworks: Laravel
• API development (REST, JSON, OAuth2/JWT)
• Database: MySQL/PostgreSQL, query optimization
• Frontend basics (HTML/CSS, JS) and integration awareness

Tooling & DevOps

• Git, branching strategies
• CI/CD tools and Docker experience
• Composer, PHPUnit/Pest, Xdebug

Soft Skills

• Proven ability to deliver software projects on time
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Experience with Agile/Scrum practices

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with ERP integration (preferably Oracle NetSuite)
• Performance profiling and load testing tools
