We have been involved in projects like JP9111, JP9102, Azure Stack Hub, Azure Stack HCI, Azure Protected, AWS Protected, OpenStack Protected, Secret Cloud, Space Management Systems, and Satellite. Red Hat Linux is a core technology we leverage in these projects to ensure robust and secure infrastructure.


Role Description

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Red Hat Linux for a hybrid role in Canberra, with flexibility for some remote work. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, secure infrastructure solutions. This project offers an initial 6-month contract and will leverage an Agile methodology. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering detailed Red Hat Linux infrastructure design documents
  • Managing cloud infrastructure tenancy and Red Hat Linux technical environments
  • Deploying and configuring Red Hat Linux systems and associated infrastructure environments
  • Monitoring and managing Red Hat Linux operating systems and technical environments
  • Providing advanced technical support and troubleshooting for Red Hat Linux infrastructure components
  • Supporting other engineers (ServiceNow, Database, Security) with Red Hat Linux-related tasks
  • Participating in V&V activities for both Linux and non-Linux infrastructure components
  • Reporting Red Hat Linux infrastructure task progress daily and escalating issues as needed


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deployment and management of Red Hat Linux systems
  • Documentation of detailed Linux infrastructure designs
  • Technical troubleshooting and operational skills focused on Red Hat Linux environments
  • Deployment of networking, highly available (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutions within a Linux context
  • Implementation of infrastructure automation using Red Hat Linux tools
  • Supporting Windows solutions with Red Hat Linux integrations
  • Understanding of environment and change management, particularly in Linux environments
  • Design and deployment of Linux-based infrastructure security, database, and ServiceNow solutions


Key Skills – SFIA Level 3 to 4:

  • Expertise in deploying and managing Red Hat Linux systems
  • Proficiency in documenting Linux infrastructure designs
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills, especially in Red Hat Linux environments
  • Operational skills for managing Linux systems
  • Experience in deploying networking, HA, and DR solutions in Linux environments
  • Ability to automate infrastructure using Red Hat tools
  • Experience with environment and change management in Linux systems
  • Design and deployment experience with Linux-based infrastructure security solutions
  • Experience with Linux-based database and ServiceNow solutions

Qualifications

  • Strong experience and knowledge of Red Hat Linux-based systems and infrastructure
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet in Linux environments
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or OpenStack with a focus on Linux
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols in a Linux context
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM in Linux environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Red Hat Linux-related issues in a timely manner
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, Linux+) are a plus
