Position Overview

What is Private Bank?

Private Bank (PB), operating through two distinct business units of Private Bank Germany (PBG) and the International Private Bank (IPB), covers private, wealth and commercial clients across more than 60 countries.

PBG is Germany’s leading retail bank with two highly complementary brands, Deutsche Bank and Postbank, serving approximately 19 million clients. We target clients who are seeking advisory solutions with Deutsche Bank offerings and those looking for convenience through the Postbank offerings. In cooperation with Deutsche Post DHL AG, we also offer postal and parcel services in the Postbank branches.

IPB is an international Private Bank with a diversified business mix. Our core scalable business is in continental Europe, but we also have a profitable and fast-growing presence in Asia and the Middle East and we operate one of the leading UHNW franchises in the United States. Under IPB’s Personal Banking segment, we serve around three million clients, primarily in Italy and Spain.

Private Bank’s combined revenues are €8.2bn (FY 2021). Collectively the business units have €553bn assets under management and a €254bn loan book.

You will be accountable for the technical leading & delivery of the end-to-end solutions for our WM Capital Markets products in an Agile environment. The Lead Engineer will be responsible with the technical design, coding, automated unit testing and integration, will liaise with the Product Owner, Architects (Solution and Enterprise), Product Managers, software engineers/developers and testers regarding the development and implementation of product lines using various technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop new technology applications in partnership with Business and Operations stakeholders to transform the Private Bank business
• Working in a global environment with distributed delivery teams, proposing the technical design and developing micro services to meet the functionalities required by the business
• Coach delivery teams in modern engineering practices, striving to ensure that your team can build, test and release software with the short lead times and a minimum of waste
• Strive to contribute towards a culture of learning and continuous improvement within your team and beyond
• Collaborate with other teams to build systems and integrate them together
• Collaborate with the Private Bank engineering community to help define an architectural roadmap and individual solution designs that fit within that roadmap
• Value a software craftsmanship approach to software development, taking pride in well-crafted software that steadily adds value
• Support and enforce automated unit/integration testing as a standard development practice
• Ensure that the software built is reliable and easy to support in production
• Promoting a DevOps/SRE culture and modern toolchains to support continuous delivery
• Structure the delivery of program elements into epics&stories, and facilitate integration between various teams output for production releases, with support from other areas
• Support in defining and implementing clear standards and KPI’s for end to end software delivery. Ensure wider PB objectives are included as appropriate.
  
  
  

Skills

• Senior Development/Engineering role with more than 10 years of experience.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, etc.).
• Microservices: Hands-on experience with designing and implementing microservices architecture.
• Cloud: Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP) and experience in deploying and managing applications in the cloud.
• Database: Solid understanding of relational databases (eg PostgreSQL/Oracle) and experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Agility: Comfortable working in an agile development environment and adapting to changing requirements.
