Lead Backend Engineer – Golang & SRE

• This position is 80% remote and 20% on-site in Buenos Aires.

Muxon is recruiting on behalf of a small US fast-growing IoT orchestration platform company that empowers businesses to manage connected devices and automate workflows at scale. The company has been active for over 10 years, is venture-backed, and is establishing a product development center of excellence in Buenos Aires to support its globally distributed team. We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to guide their core development team.

Requirements:

• Leadership Experience: 2–5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams.
• Backend Expertise: Advanced-level Golang proficiency; experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka.
• Cloud & DevOps: Deep hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
• Monitoring & Observability: Proficient with Datadog.
• Frontend Familiarity: Working knowledge of React.js and TypeScript for occasional small frontend tasks.
• Other: Professional Fluent English, strong sense of ownership, and a Site Reliability mindset
• Nice-to-have: IoT Expertise, experience with MQTT protocol and embedded Linux applications.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, manage daily operations, and drive technical excellence.
• Architecture & Development: Own and evolve the backend architecture using Golang, ensuring code quality, scalability, and reliability
• Infrastructure Management: Manage key aspects of cloud infrastructure, including DNS and Kubernetes adjustments.
• Planning & Execution: Drive sprint planning, backlog management, and feature decomposition.
• System Reliability: Champion best practices in monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning with SRE principles.
• Production Support: Lead investigations into critical issues, working closely with support and QA teams to ensure fast resolution.
• Full-Stack Oversight: Contribute occasionally to frontend and on-device clients through code reviews and bug fixes when needed.
