About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

As part of Wolt’s Platform department (Core Group), you will help ensure our datastores are reliable and scalable, and work on the future unified platform we are building together with DoorDash.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer focused on storage reliability to join the Core group. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable platform solutions to support our e-commerce business, serving over 45 million users and 170,000+ active venues. As a Staff Engineer, you will set technical direction, mentor other engineers, and help ensure our platform architecture supports rapid growth while staying reliable.

What you’ll be doing

Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and leadership to multiple storage teams, set best practices for data storage. Oversee development and migration to the unified platform with DoorDash, ensuring high availability and data consistency.

Growth Support: Lead the design and development of a robust, scalable storage architecture that supports our business goals and organic growth.

Mentor: Mentor and guide engineers at various levels, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Act as an evangelist for database optimization and best practices within the organization.

Collaborate: Work closely with Core´s engineers and other engineering teams to align platform initiatives with business needs and goals.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of platform architecture, design decisions, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding. Participate in writing and reviewing RFCs.

Security: Implement and enforce security best practices to protect data and maintain the integrity of our platform in alignment with our Security Engineers.

Observability: Improve dashboards and alerts, and drive their adoption. Working together with the Observability team, ensure teams have the tools and visibility needed to quickly detect, investigate, and resolve issues.

Hands-on: Work directly on implementation when needed, including POCs and debugging complex technical problems.
