Senior Front-End Engineer, DLCC (Contract)

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

SUTD Academy's Digital Learning Capability Centre (DLCC) is set up to power up CET Training & learning by developing new cyber-physical digital capabilities for the Continuing Education and Training (CET) sector. We are looking for a senior front-end engineer to join our team that involves the development and testing of new cyber-physical solutions closely integrated with CET activities, courses, and programmes under SUTD Academy.

Job Scope:

• Lead the design, prototyping, and development of modern front-end systems for web and mobile platforms.
• Collaborate with backend developers, AI, Gamification, and embedded electronics teams to ensure seamless integration across systems.
• Drive the development and refinement of user interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g. HTMX, React, Vue, Svelte).
• Translate user feedback into improved user experiences, iterating UI/UX designs to better serve learner needs.
• Ensure responsive, accessible, intuitive and consistent interfaces.
• Maintain and enhance front-end build and deployment processes, supporting CI/CD pipelines and production-grade environments.
• Implement best practices in front-end security, performance optimization, and browser/device compatibility.
• Contribute to the documentation of UI components, design systems, and interaction patterns for consistency and scalability.
• Work closely with internal and external teams to align product development with operational needs and timelines.
• Support cost and effort estimation for scaling frontend features and interfaces as part of commercial roll-out plans.

Job Requirements:

• Relevant Engineering Degree with at least 5 years relevant experience / Diploma with at least 8 years relevant experience or equivalent.
• Proven experience developing modern front-end applications in production, using frameworks like HTMX, React, Vue, or Svelte.
• Strong skills in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.
• Experience working with backend teams to integrate RESTful APIs and real-time services (e.g., WebSocket).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and CI/CD tools to support deployment and monitoring of front-end applications.
• Understanding of UI/UX best practices and accessibility standards, with a strong eye for detail and usability.
• Experience with Python and Django ORM for developing and integrating front-end components with server-side data models.
• Experience integrating with AI/LLM APIs to build dynamic, intelligent user interfaces.
• Familiarity with handling streaming data, prompt input/output, and designing user interactions for AI-powered features.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality interfaces in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strategic and creative mindset for translating complex requirements into user-centric interfaces aligned with CET sector needs.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including designers, engineers, educators, and product stakeholders.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for building impactful digital learning tools.
